It’s Labor Day weekend! Click on the tag to the right or scroll down!

Remember that Oktoberfest up at Snowbird Resort is going on. It goes from noon to 6pm on Saturdays and Sundays and Labor Day, through October 10th. Free admission.

And if you get a chance, go check out the new art exhibit at the Salt Lake Art Center. It is a really cool playable mini golf course, and it’s free! We tried it out recently, and thought it was great! Read that post, HERE.

September 3-6th ~ Labor Day Rendezvous in Ogden

Time for the annual Labor Day Rendezvous at Fort Buenaventura in Ogden. This might make a great little weekend escape, you can look into camping options on their site below.

Activities include a Dutch oven cook-off, a mountain man run, storytelling a period clothing competition, a candy cannon, primitive games for kids and adults, food vendors, and trader’s row. Check the website for a schedule of events.

September 3-5th ~ Antelope Island Stampede

Lot’s of fun going on at Antelope Island this weekend. This fun event has a new name this year too! Here’s some of the fun that awaits you:

Balloon launches and glows.

Proffessional kite demos. Fly your own kite in designated area.

Horseback riding, a rock climbing wall, and this year they will even have fireworks on Saturday night!

Only $10 per vehicle with up to 8 people, this includes park entrance! Entertainment is free.

September 4th~Free Home Depot Kids Workshops

On the first Saturday of the month Home Depot offers a fun FREE Kid Workshop.

On September 4th they will be making a Wooden Football Display!

Their site says ”The workshops teach children do-it-yourself skills and tool safety, while at the same time helping to instill a sense of accomplishment. Additionally, this fun time allows for quality one-on-one time between adults and children.”

Each child also receives a kid-sized orange apron just like the employees wear and some sort of recognition item, like a certificate or a pin. Plus they get to take home their creation! This is while supplies last.

Ongoing~Storytime at The Kings English Bookstore in Salt Lake

We recently spoke to the kind folks at Kings English Bookstore, and are excited to go check this place out for the first time. From what we have heard, Kings English is the kind of bookstore that has more of that mom and pop sort of homey feel, and less of that big commercialized chain store feel. {look how cute it is!}

And we just found out that they have children’s storytimes every Thursday, Friday and Saturday! These are free events of course, and all ages are welcome. The Kings English will be a regular part of the Weekend Update now, and we will let you know of any other free family events that they hold.

We also hear that on the first Saturday of the month they have a R.E.A.D dog drop by to read to!

September 4th~Lakeshore Learning Free Crafts for Kids in Murray

Our local Lakeshore store has free crafts for your kiddos each Saturday giving you the perfect opportunity to shop!

These are really fun crafts and activities! In case you weren’t aware, Lakeshore learning sells high quality teaching materials. If you have never tried their stuff, we recommend you check them out. This is a reoccurring event every Saturday.
