Don’t forget about the afterschool activities below, but we wanted to let you know that today there is a Leprchaun celebration at the Calvin S. Smith Library (810 E. 3300 S.) from 7:00 – 8:00 pm. They will have stories, music and dance plus an adventure to find the pot of gold!
We’ve said it once, and we’ll say it a thousand times…take your kids to the library!! Often. We love to tell you about events at the COUNTY libraries, but don’t forget we are also fortunate to also have all of the CITY libraries with fun FREE stuff going on for families!
And now, the Main library has started hosting afterschool actvities each weekday! Here is the afterschool line-up:
Monday Night Storytime
Kids and their grownups are invited to a special storytime every Monday at 7:00 p.m. Stories are told in English and Spanish on the 1st and 3rd Mondays of each month.
Tuesday Afternoon Activities
Don’t miss indoor and outdoor fun every Tuesday from 4:00 to 5:30 p.m.
Wednesday After-School Crafts
Join us for a fun kids’ craft every Wednesday from 4:00-5:30 p.m.
Thursday Gaming
Visit us every Thursday afternoon from 4:00 to 5:30 p.m. for board games and Wii gaming.
Friday Afternoon Movies
Join us on Fridays from 2:00-4:00 p.m. for favorite kids’ films.
Oh, and one last thing. If you have been debating whether or not to get a city library card, here is one great reason to do so. Kids can read down their own fines! Here’s the details:
Did you know that if you’re under 18, you can “read down” your fines? Sign up at any service desk and a staff member will time your reading. For every 10 minutes you read, we’ll remove $1.00 of overdue fines. And if you read to someone younger, both of you will get credit!
This program is WAY better than what the county libraries offer! And if you’re have kids, you know fines are easy to stack up.
